This also holds true in the AF. For 30 years the AF was led by bomber pilots. For the next 30 it was led by fighter pilots (and is to this day). Only in the last 5-10 years have we begun to seriously assess for operational- and strategic-level thinking, with intel, cyber, mobility and space officers promoted at higher rates.
