At least five U.S. troops were wounded this week by small-arms fire and shrapnel while fighting alongside Afghan forces to expel ISIS from strongholds in eastern Nangarhar province.

This also sounds like mission creep where POTUS is reversing his stated policy of withdrawing troops from Afgan. He only has only limited congressional authority to work with and is pushing the envelope. They used to talk about training and advising Afgan troops; now this article talks about US troops being 'imedded' with Afgans, 2150 troops in 'counter terrorism operations' , 3000 'advisors', and all others in 'support' missions, whatever that is. Another article earlier this week described several US WIAs from indirect fire while helping Afgans build a pontoon bridge.
