You have researched and written a this article well but I think you are missing the intent of why this topic is mis characterized. There is a political motivation to spread disinformation or fake news about guns period. Guns used for self defense is the worst an individual could do. To one political ideology we should call the State for help and wait.

Actually if you read it carefully you see where I point out that the naming of it as "stand your ground" or "Castle Doctrine" were done by the media to bring a negative feeling at the law. They used the terms to try and make the public have a negative feeling for the very simple self defense law.

Although my state has no 'Castle Doctrine', some of us in the hinterlands also have no police coverage, so we just call it the SSS Doctrine.
