Thanks Gunny! I love Col. West, sharp guy. (He was a Marine exchange officer for 3 years ;) I agree on the Marine Corps readiness of aircraft, I can attest! I used to see many, many Marine helos transiting our airspace going to CAX in 29 Palms. Now, they are like seeing a unicorn.

GySgt Melissa Gravila - I served as an Aviation Operations Specialist (7041) for 8 years aboard rotary wing bases and if those birds did not receive a lot of tender loving care they would not fly. Every helo leaked a tremendous amount of hydraulic fluid, but I got out as the Ospreys were coming in. There was a tremendous crash of an Osprey 12 miles from where I lived the month before I separated and so their assimilation into the Fleet was set back. The V-22's are a great asset but they need lots of maintenance.

SSgt Robert Marx - now here's my question, if the government knows that they require so much maintenance, why not either a. Look for a better option or b. Make sure we have the supplies available for the proper maintenance? It ain't rocket science, loss of life during battle is bad enough, but losing life die to mechanical failure or governmental incompetence is complete B.S. IMO-JS
