2LT (Join to see) Troubling... Certainly not conclusive, but troubling, nonetheless.

Again, goes back to not obeying the lawful instructions of the police. He is a victim of his own stupidity... and, possibly, excessive force by the police. Can't really tell by the video. This is a tough one... However, since both the victim and officer involved were black, I fail to see how the BLM idiots and media want to make this a racial issue.

Just saw on the news that the authorities say there are three more videos (police dashboard camera and body cams) that more clearly show what transpired. We shall see...

Regardless what actually occurred, it does not justify rioting and lawlessness.

Sharon Lee - As I have previously stated... You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect it. Test, however, does not necessarily mean that you are right and I am wrong, nor vice-versa.

COL JEAN (JOHN) F.B.: I guess it is just so shocking to me that a Colonel would think as you do. My son is in Afghanistan, 2 of my cousins just retired after multiple deployments and any one of them would sacrifice their life to save yours. But at the end of the day I would look down at them in a casket, their life gone to protect a man who views him as just another African American who complained too much, had too little, and exaggerated his circumstances....an African American whose ancestors were fortunate enough to be picked and sold into American slavery, so he could one day lay down his life for a white man. Well, at least that's how it sounds to me. Interesting conversation for sure! Enjoy your night!!

Sharon Lee - As is typical, you spin everything I said to fit your viewpoint. Nothing I said was meant to be offensive or condescending. I simply spoke the truth, as I see it. I do not deny racism and prejudice existed and still exists in our country. I just don't buy that only whites can be racists and that all the ills of minorities are a result of racism. It is long past time for people to take responsibility for their own actions and place in life and quit playing the race and victim card. Again, much has been done to make up for past discrimination, and the time has come to really be "equal", which is not what minorities really want. They want to have advantages over non-minorities, which, in and of itself, is discrimination.

Most members of my family have served in the military (to include my father, uncles, sister, brothers, and sons), and have deployed more times than I can count. Each of us would also sacrifice our lives for others. Therefore, I fail to see the point you are trying to make. Having said that, please thank your son for his service to our country.

As stated before.. We have beat this dead horse enough. I respect you and your opinion, even if we do not totally agree.

Yes, I agree with the first paragraph, but not the part where you say minorities want advantages over non-minorities; it really is about equality and should never be about the color of one's skin. I feel the same about gender; form an opinion based on my ability, education and experience, not on my hips and my thighs.

If I told you how many times in a week I am judged and/or offended by comments or actions due to the color of my skin, you wouldn't believe it. True story: my daughter working PT in a nursing home here, was serving in the dining room when she came across a White family and was asked by the resident, "why are all the white girls greeting people and sitting down and all the black people (guys included) serving? My daughter stated, " I don't know, you'll have to talk with the supervisor about that". The family became so upset, they did inquire and because the supervisor did not make any of the White girls serve the residents, the family refused to eat in the dining hall and apologized to my daughter. My daughter was around 19 at the time, she is now 21. About 2wks ago I contacted a White man, a roofer that came with rave reviews, he told me he no longer does that kind of work; the man is still in business and has been for 30 years. I just want you to know that's it's far more bigger and more alive than ever. We have not come as far as we would like to believe; it's everywhere, and yes, it cuts both ways....however, there is a "but"... However, I agree; enough on this subject. Have a great day!!

So if open carry is legal in NC, why bother the man in the first place? Excerpt from article- Police arrived at The Village at College Downs complex near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to search for someone else with an outstanding warrant. Officers said they saw Scott holding a handgun as he exited his car and returned to his vehicle. He then exited again as officers approached him and became threatening, police said.

SGT (Join to see) I don't think open carry means carrying a weapon in your hand out in the open. It normally means holstered but visible (open to be seen). If you draw your weapon that means you intend to use it. If I am carrying (concealed in Florida) and someone draws a weapon out in the open I am assuming he/she intends to use it.

If the cops tell you to drop the weapon, you need to listen. They do not know you, your intention etc. I do not believe brandishing the weapon is legal even in open carry states. I have heard he might have had a TBI and been on medication as well. Why are people letting him carry a weapon in that state?

So, if he was just sitting in his vehicle not doing anything illegal, why were the police there? Why would you expect some one with any type of mental health to be rational and compliant? That makes no sense. It's not about listening, it's about mental health. People really should educate themselves concerning mental health.

Open carry in NC is legal - just some food for thought
