Why is the snail insulin so speedy at lowering blood sugar? It all comes down to chemical structure. In the pancreas, human insulin is stored as an aggregate of six insulin molecules. In order to work on blood sugar, though, that aggregate must break up into individual insulin molecules, which can take as much as one hour. The very fastest insulin medications on the market have small tweaks to their structure to make this breakup faster, and they still take 15-30 minutes.

As everyone knows diabetes is a horrible condition. My younger sister passed from it a few months ago after a lifetime fight.

I am very sorry to hear that. My condolences, my Aunt died in 2005 after living with it since she was three years old. I know how devastating the disease can be. I am hopeful they will find better treatment options that have less havoc on the body than cows insulin.
