Well, more Americans can name a kardashian spouse than can name their representative.

I'm beginning to think that the average member here on RP is a helluva lot better informed than the average American. We are offended by the concept that candidates try to reduce important issues to bumper sticker slogans, tweets, and sound bites. We keep asking "Where's the beef?" and they smile benignly and offer platitudes because that's what the majority of voters respond to.
How do we change this? We don't. We simply need someone who's better at it. Think of Winston Churchill. He moved nations to strive against impossible odds with little more than encouraging words delivered in sound bites. Remember his most famous admonition: "Never give up!"
Maybe those are the three words that we need to emblazon on our bumper stickers and our hearts.
"Never give up!"
Then, after we have defeated the Left in our schools and campuses and driven them from the hallowed halls of Congress and the White House, and restored the Constitution, someone will say of us, "This was our finest hour".

No one called you "retard". Your statement went "full retard". If words hurt I promise to make this as painless as possible. You claim the "left wing" has a agenda and that we are hell bent on more government is ubsurd. The last 50 years we've had more damage done by republicans than democrats. Let's start off with the last one. The Patriot Act is the biggest constitutional violator their is period. Bush Tax cut was the biggest disaster that collapsed the economy. 9/11 enough said. Now let's go to Bush sr. He had some achievements like Americans with Disabilities Act and The clean Air act amendments he didn't finish the job with Saddam. Read my lips no new taxes was a lie. Ronald Reagan gave weapons to the Afghans which in turn killed U.S Service members. The contra issue was embarrassing. The economy was crap. The Beirut barracks which killed 241 service members? Nothing to see here folks. Keep it moving. Shall I mention Richard Nixon? Now the Democratic Party is not a innocent baby. They have had plenty issues. The Gulf of Tonkin was a lie made up by the our government to have a reason to go into war with Vietnam. That pisses me off and pisses off many Vietnam vets because that was a conflict we shouldn't have gone too. Many good people died their. For that I blame the ford administration for being weak and ignorant. I have no allegiance to a party and I don't defend it until death. Only in your world the left is the problem. In mine the left is the only grown adult in the room.

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; When I refer to "the American Left" I mean "the AMERICAN Left". What is "left-wing" in the United States of America is (on a really good day) pretty much "[Moderate to Conservative] Center Right" in the rest of the world - NORMALLY it is pretty much "[Conservative] Center Right".
Admittedly there are groups that are powerless and have absolutely no realistic chance of becoming anything less than powerless that are "further left" than than but there is no point in counting the number of udders on a stallion on the off chance that someone might confuse a cow with a horse.
PS - It's pretty hard to credit "The fundamental principle of 'The Right' is individual liberty." when you look at what 'The Right' has been responsible for (try Treblinka as an example).
PPS - Historically the terms "left-wing" and "right-wing" derive from the French National Assembly after 1789, in which supporters of the King sat on one side and those opposed to the king on the other ("the people [without land or money]" didn't actually have any say in the matter). In other words, the "right-wing" supports the rights of the entrenched aristocracy and the "left-wing" supports the rights of the non-aristocratic rich. That means that "Capitalism" was originally a "left-wing" idea.

What is the Origin of the Political “Left” and “Right”? | Politics Report
There is a general and popular division of the political scene into Left and Right. The basic idea is that there is a political spectrum that you can use to explain political orientation with Left on one side of the political center and Right on the other. Everyone uses these terms but they are poorly defined and there are a lot of arguments about what they “really” mean. The political scene is so complicated in reality that there are a lot...

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; Not only "better informed" but "more open minded" (by which I only mean "is prepared to listen [and respond] reasonably respectfully AND is prepared to at least consider changing their mind when presented with facts").

SFC Tyrone Almendarez - No problem with hurt feelings. Only sad to see you waste space on empty attacks. I think you should join Bernie Sanders in a class to help you understand what is socialism or Leftism. You launch into a tirade against various Republicans as though this somehow confirms the righteousness of the Left. Sorry. That doesn't fly. Your argument is a non sequitur. We are not embroiled in a war with criminality which is the direction your examples tend to go. We are talking about what is American and what isn't. If you think that the only adults in the room lean to the Left, you are sadly mistaken. The Left leans towards failed experiments and murder. You want examples of their history? Study Nazi Germany and Communist Russia and China or Fascist Italy. Count the murders. More than a hundred million in the 20th Century alone. Ruined economies. Abject poverty and want. Countless refugees fleeing. Where? To America where the Left hadn't infected the government. Sadly the Left followed and launched their attack in American schools and universities. You'll find the Left infecting the established leaders of both Republicans and Democrats, only to slightly different degrees. Ever since their arrival, America has suffered. Now I'm not going to waste any more time attempting to inspire you to educate yourself. That's your decision. If you want, I'll point you in a direction where you may begin. The Devil's Pleasure Palace by Michael Walsh. Beyond that is a lifetime of study. The alternative is ignorance. Your choice. I wish you well.
