Hell, didn't even need much green until after 1971. 2S deferments just meant you had to stay in school and make a passing grade and this was before Colleges became outrageously expensive.
People that didn't live through it or have a draft card shouldn't bitch about it. The reality is that from 1964 till the last draft in 1973, 2.2 million out of 27 million eligible males were drafted. That is an 8 percent chance of getting called. Now if your birth year put you in the 1967/68 draft year, your chances were probably double that, but overall, most men just didn't get drafted whether they had a deferment or not.
Lottery number 126. My birth year was 1955, so when they stopped drafting in 1973 I was clear since you didn't become eligible until the year you turned 19 1/2. I don't think they even classified anyone after 1973 until the draft law expired in 1975.

If President Trump was that bad, would have never pinned a single star on each shoulder of 100-year-old Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee. Nor would he have invited him and his family and other military families to the State of the Union. Nor would he have even mentioned them in the speech. Seth Moulton is a Trump hating moronic hypocrite.

MSgt (Join to see) So, Dems like Moulton should not throw too many stones, lest they hit one or MORE of their own like say, "former POTUS Bill Clinton".
In fact, if they use grape shot vs a single stone they could hit more than one pigeon in a single lob. Hummmmmmmmmmm!!!
BTW, [1607415: ssgt-richard-kensinger] their are many who have never served in the military who have served this nation in every community in this nation. Many I work with in my community know I retired military. Those serving in scouting, the Boys and Girls Club, etc. do a great service and have never served a day of military service. Those serving in roles with VISTA or the PEACE CORPS have served, and often in very difficult environments. My sister a former military spouse, serve in the Green Zone as civilian and she has a Masters in Psychology and Sociology. She now serves in Kuwait. She never served a day on AD, but she has served our troops with honor. She has done, as a women, in support of front line operations what many are incapable of.
We, you and I, have served in the military willing to lay down our lives. My father, a child holocaust survivor, came to this country after WWII, obtained his citizenship and joined the not too old USAF. He serve on flight crews of B-52 until he was rendered 100% SCD from an accident that caused trauma induced epilepsy.
There are presidents that did not serve and their are those that did. Some were good and some were not so much. Can everyone please quit trying to relive the #$%#& past and lets just get our shit together as a nation.
To paraphrase a movie line "...Our nation has serious problems and we need serious people to solve them..." Games, gimmicks and cliche rhetoric are getting tiring. I respect you as a fellow service member and to the best of my ability, would try to help you if you asked, but I am getting a little sick of this from everyone! I just happened to voice my frustrated toward your comments.
Please, Richard, I have been working to rebuild my family history since the NAZI's felt it was so important to wipe out nearly 95% on my family line. So I am a little more than impatient with some things. I will say that I have begun to discover those in my family line, via diligent research, on my mother's side that served in both Revolutionary and Civil War (Union) {have not found any Confederates yet}. I have Rabbis and scholars in my line as well as humble hard working shop owners and general laborers. I never had these stories in my youth, perhaps as you had that makes you obviously proud of your family and what I assume is their distinguished service to this nation.
I'd consider it a real blessing if our nation could please fix what is broken, what we all know is broken, so our nation can start to begin travel the road to sustain another 250 years of "... a new birth of freedom..." in peace and prosperity. Can this be too much to ask?
I apologize for coming down so hard, but I guess I am just getting impatient with the nonsense. Unlike some, I CHOOSE words over violence, over excessive alcohol or anything else that is NOT valued added! If I have to on occasion be a little strong in my language, I will!.
Now, I need to take my wife out for lunch and exchange some equipment I purchased yesterday. I got the wrong thing so I have to make an exchange! Take care, Richard.
