Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on November 19, 1776 British Commander in Chief General William Howe renames Fort Washington “Fort Knyphausen” in honor of Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Knyphausen, who had stormed the post five days earlier.

TSgt Joe C. Perhaps the loss of the Fort, 3000 men and supply's at Fort Washington, to the Hessian's, contributed to or gave incentive to George Washington when he crossed the Delaware river on Christmas day and overwhelmed the Hessian encampment in NJ? Or at the very least I am sure it gave him great pleasure. You know what they say about Pay Backs....
