I am sure it is made from better and stronger materials than previous helmets. It does seem to me there is more exposure on the back of the neck/head as well as the ear/cheek. It looks like a bicycle helmet designer may be working in the pentagon.

When they moved from the Kevlar to the ACH the word on the street was they shortened in the back to make it easier to shoot prone. I am not an infantry guy but I would imagine the time you shoot prone verses the amount of time you are on your feet with an exposed brainstem is significant. The back of your head that is even more exposed with this helmet is the area that controls heart rate and breathing. Take it out, you die. I am not a fan of the ACH nor am I of this helmet.

They're starting to look more like cycling helmets.

CW5 Jack Cardwell The article states that it protects the soldier more for blunt force trauma, and is stronger against bullets. The IED's may not be as deadly. I am all for that.
