Thanks TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that on May 12, 1832 fur trader William Sublette leads a pack train out of Independence, Missouri, heading west for a disastrous rendezvous at Pierre’s Hole, Idaho.
As chance would happen, the hardy trappers became involved in tenacious battle with the Gros Ventres Indians after one of them shot and killed a Gros Ventres chief.
