I'd always thought the city was spelled Rheims not Reims though maybe I was wrong. My uncle was actuallymthere that day with the 3118th signal svc battln or group helping run the Telex system used by Eisenhower and shaef HQ. He helped broadcast the German surrender announce!EMT and actually swiped one of the flimsy copies of the Telex announcement of the surrender. He and my aunt displayed it every 4th meml day and vets day for years at the library in their town, my cousins their boys still have it in a safe deposit box.

Eisenhower remembered him when the president of Columbia Univ, he handed !my uncle his diploma, my uncle actually chatted with him though the genl was surprised yet did actually re!member him slightly lol . my uncle was always his unit's comedian I'd nee told lol.
