This is going to have a profound affect on the city of Alomogordo New Mexico unless the Air Force move more aircraft to Holloman AFB to take advantage of the space available for training.

Oh I agree. The only good thing is that rent will come down to reasonable levels. The Luftwaffe gave all their airman a huge stipend (around $1500) for housing and thus drove up rentals through the roof. Having been "stationed" there as a contractor in 2009-10, I was shocked at the high rent. The good news is that the USAF is moving the 54th Fighter Group from Luke to Holloman. There's also the advanced Predator & Reaper training. That said, the Luftwaffe will be missed in the region.
