I owned both Glock and Sig. In all fairness, if you want a weapon that works when you need it, go with the Glock. The Sig is a beautiful accurate weapon, but when you have a problem, it always took longer to clear than any issues I ever had with my Glock. Also, I thought the major issue was that service members wanted a .40, instead of 9mm? Both of these in the competition are chambered in 9mm. My 2 cents...

9mm is for alignment to NATO standards and ease of training (.40 is larger round with potentially more recoil).

LTC Eugene Chu - Agree, but I thought all the services wanted a larger round? They found the 9mm lacking...

The 9mm has made tons of progress in the last 15 years and is as leathal as the .45acp now. Now the standard military ball ammo may not be that great, but the .40 is a dying caliber.

I myself prefer the old M1911.

I grew up shooting hefty 357 mags and 2 different models of Colt's 1911. The first time I handled and fired a Glock was the very first time I fired a 9 mil. That and the fact Glock was the first composite hand gun I ever handled, turned me off to Glock. Silly I know cuz I now own several composite hand guns. I grew up with a big bang and some hefty recoil. Professionally I carried the 40 cal Beretta (yuck) and 40 cal H&K P 2000 ( a Cadillac of a hand gun). I think the 40 S&W and 45 ACP are superior rounds over the 9 mil. Both Glock and Sig are great weapon. To the Victor go the spoils.
