In my opinion, most Glocks perform at about 90-95% of pistols that cost 5 times more. The vast majority of shooters in the military aren't going to be able to outshoot the Glock, and the functionality is hard to match. I have about 10,000 rounds through the Glock 34 that I use for competition and haven't had a single FTF or FTE.

My only question is, why are they choosing G19s instead of something with a longer slide/barrel?

CPT (Join to see) - I questioned that as well, my first thought was that SPECOPS would be in much closer range thus the shorter barrel, but NYPD carries the G19.

I concealed carry a G19 without much printing or other indication that I'm carrying. Perhaps that has something to do with it as well, it's suitable for open carrying in uniform or concealing when necessary?

For a secondary weapon system it is just fine in my opinion. You can fit 16 rounds (one in the chamber) that should be enough to do the job. Home defense or primary weapon (Law Enforcement) I would recomment a more lethal round.

Just bought a 19. Really like it. Have Sig 220, 1911 and Glock 27. Glock is very simple and good for the novice and shoots well enough for group and regiment. Price is right as well. Word I got was DoD would get 19s for $200.
