Ranks right up there with the berets and new class A's in terms of stupidity and waste of tax dollars. I'm hoping our current POTUS gets around to taking a closer look at how DoD in general and DA in particular spend their money. Glad our senior leaders don't have more important things to spend their time on. They must have lost their copy of Colin Powell's Rules.

I still want to know how this is going to work on a remote FOB in the Middle East.. The great thing about the 3 event APFT is that you can take it anywhere you have room for the 2 mile run. This will require an additional conex just to get the equipment into theater, and a flat field that isn't full of boulders to do the drags. Put this up there with ACUs and wearing black PTs in the summer on Hood..

"Breaking it down, Frost explained that every battalion will get 15 lanes worth of equipment each, at a cost of about $25,000 each. If you estimate that equipment will last 10 years for roughly a million soldiers, you’re down to about $3 each.
That cost, Dailey said, could be offset by a reduction in injuries, obesity and other health issues that the Army wants to tackle through these upgraded PT programs.
“It’s completely and utterly negligible when you’re talking about those cost savings and benefits,” he said."
In other words: if you smoke enough crack and drop enough acid, we can make you believe this will be a negligible cost. Also, the ACU was a great camouflage pattern and wearing black PT gear in the heat and sun makes sense.
