It's illegal to use active duty troops within the United States other then securing our borders . And remember this is what the Air and National Guard shine in time of national crisis . I think more calm will come out when the Guard is activated when people see them taking charge .

I've worked State Emergency Duty after the 2011 E5 Tornado in Joplin, Missouri. A situation far different than the outbreak. It was interesting to see how much of the population didn't appreciate the LE agencies that were there.
The cop I was assigned to and I received a call about something stupid, a stolen wallet. The guy left it in the cup holder of his truck, with the window down and doors unlocked.
The cop started to interview and ask him questions, standard. The individual just lost his mind, was rude and disrespectful. Wouldn't let the cop get anything else in.
I finally asked the cop if I could step in and try to calm the guy down. He immediately started spouting off that he refused to work with cops, he didn't trust them. He would rather work with me because I was serving. Trying to maintain his compliance, I explained to him how the cop and I both serve, regardless of the uniform or the agency. He would be doing me a favor by calmly and respectfully working with the cop and myself.
It's sad to say this as I know a lot of military who have transitioned into civilian law enforcement and am also friends with civilian leo's. The unwillingness of people to work with cops because of their bad rap from media just baffles me. However, even in a situation like that, where the entire town was destroyed by natural disaster and joint agencies were working towards the same cause; it gave a sense of safety to the civilians to see the National Guard.

Additionally, State Emergency Duty (SED) orders are WAY less expensive than Title 10 orders. Federal activation would be surprising if for no other reason.

I agree! I know each state is different on how they pay for SED. I remember back in Missouri, a few years ago, it was E5 with dependents pay for every day of SED, regardless of rank and TIS.

As a Title 32 federal technician, I would prefer title 10 activation over State activation.

2d Lt Michael L. For many of us here in Colorado, we still haven't been activated as of yet. I have been receiving communications from my current unit and soon to be gaining unit that they are looking for bodies to bring up on orders. SFS has temporary AGR for 90 days to help increase manning on base. FSS has 60 days of MPA days. The one thing that I really do appreciate is that the Wing is really trying to do what they can to bring people up on orders who are most effected financially by COVID, students, service industry, teachers, etc.
