Gun Ownership Rises Among Women, Minorities

With all due respect Sir, I find it odd that you ask if minorities or women being gun owners is a good thing? Does it truly matter if they are a woman or if they are of a minority? I believe any human who owns a gun is capable of using them in the same manner whether it be right or wrong.

I think this is a good thing. People are always targeting the LEO's for their lack of being able to protect them in their own towns, not that they do not want to , but because in some cases the resources are not there, not enough LEOs for the population, larger more spread out towns and cities, and as we have seen in recent months/years, there is more concentration and a magnifying glass on the way LEOs were and are performing their duties.

But the thing that was said about women and being in the cities where there are less male figures around, it seems there are a lot of male figures that can commit these crimes. The issue with this, IMO becomes, will the women, who take the classes and get their CCW, be able to actually stop that intruder? I would hope so, and that this not some thing that they can say, "Oh I have a gun and can use it." I read an article a few months back, and it was about people that own guns, and have CCWs, but more than not, these weapons find a sock drawer, shelf in a closet, or some other place to hide, and are more than not never come out, until something wrong happens. And by that, the wrong person gets injured or even killed, because the gun for got where it was and the wrong human found it.

As we all know, going through the training, plopping down the money for the background check, fingerprinting, application fee, and lest we forget the cost of the weapon itself, in some states I hear can be expensive.

So if people are going to go through all of this, then make sure that you can use it, and that you do use it. I have a friend, that is 68 years young, she got her CCW just because her sister got one. I know for sure that if asked, she wouldn't know where it is. Guess I need to start bugging her as to where her gun is playing hide and seek from her.

All joking aside, I have mine, and when possible, I carry at all times. But working on a Federal Installation makes it difficult. Gen. Milley told Congress that he thinks people being able to CCW on installations is a bad idea. This coming from the man that was the Commander of Ft. Hood during an on post shooting. You can try to imagine 10 thousand ways that scenario could have gone, had at least one person had a CCW. Then General also said that an 8-10 minute response time seemed acceptable for the DES. Really?

So, here I go again, a simple yes or no turns into a long thought. But, I think a lot of this is something to think about. Where is that gun hiding? And when was the last time it was looked at or cleaned or the ammo was even looked at?

If you push the political numbers gaming aside, the trend is a higher percentage of gun ownership tends to force crime down. The liberals go into denial over it and the other end takes too much credit. We're on the ISIS hit list but figure the Pastor will get off the first shots as he sees what is coming through the door first. The main thing is regardless of what category you're cast in, having a significant percentage of folk carrying around here equates to a pretty quiet place.
