It surprises me the gun would have that much perceived value. That is all it is. The gun itself is not worth $500. The thing about items like this is you can sell them for whatever someone is willing to pay for it. The gun will have very little marketable value in my opinion.
Sometimes weapons used in the commission of a famous crime can be "valuable" to collectors but technically this weapon was not used in a crime, only in self defense as Zimmerman (agree with the outcome or not) was acquitted of a crime.
I think it was $120K foolishly spent but some people have more dollars than sense.

Cpl Jeff N. - Corporal; I think that you will find that a weapon which has a certified history of actually killing someone will almost invariably attract a higher price than weapons that don't.
