Jack, I agree. I think the shooters names should be omitted from the news unless there is an APB out for the jerk. Let them fade into obscurity.

I wish they wouldn't report it at all. What can I do about a mass shooting in another State. I think it's ludicrous that they will make a murder in another State news; again news is information I can act on...oh, I get it. They expect me to change my mind about my gun ownership because a nut that should never have been able to get his hands on a gun committed a crime. That totally makes sense to me. |-\

An expert in mass murderers says that the news media is very much to blame for the rash of these incidents and the carnage they produce. She says the media sensationalizes the act by posting photos of the killer and giving an in depth analysis of the killers possible motives. They talk to his father and mother and soon the killers name is a household word.

She says what we should do instead is exactly the opposite and concentrate on the families torn apart by this brutality and get to know them. Let your television audience feel empathy for them and the survivors in their families as they try to deal with their loss. Completely ignore the killer so others won't be tempted to do something similar. Investigate him all you want but publish nothing, announce nothing and make him fade away with time.

Yesterday and today they were exploring his childhood, and any arrest records he may have. Almost to the point of making him seem like the victim instead of those he wounded and killed. They wonder aloud how this killer procured his weapons and invariably its always a Black Military looking long gun and/or handgun which I won't go into. They are looking for answers to what may have been a case of Police Officer Assisted Suicide and the individual wants to go out in a Blaze of Glory and be remembered forever.

I think we need less gun laws and more cooperation between law enforcement agencies in this country. Police Officers can't even carry a gun if they've been charged with Domestic Assault, so why or how did this idiot get a gun legally from a gun dealer? Obviously the AF never shared information with the Law Enforcement Data base so that NICS or the National Instant Check System could work.

I grieve for the families and it's easy to put yourself in their place having worshipped in church myself and having shown up early to get ready for a Spring or Fall Festival. Maybe until we get this under control we need to carry our concealed weapons and be prepared to use them like Mr. Willeford did in Texas.
