There's a word for this. There must be. I just can't come up with it. Try as I might, I just can't. Insane? No, that's not it. In fact, it's all too normal these days for people to make symbolic gestures that have no consequences, that solve nothing. Juvenile? No that's not it. Not even children are this juvenile. Illogical? No, that's not it either. There is a logic, but without any rational purpose. Wait. Here it comes. "Politically Correct". I know, that's two words. I suppose I could hyphenate it. Still, that's all it really is. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time begging forgiveness for the sins of my father. I certainly wouldn't beg forgiveness for the sins of someone else's father. The point is that we can only be just in our own time. What came before is past. Study it. Learn from it. Don't repeat it if it was wrong or a mistake. However, don't expect symbolic gestures to solve anything. And don't expect to "make points" with those who demand symbolic gestures. They are blackmailers. They'll only want more.

I don't think there is a word for this, but I think there is a phrase for it. I heard the phrase from Sally Fields. Well... ... ... not "really" Sally Fields. It was Sally Fields playing Forrest Gump's mom. The phrase, which I think applies perfectly in this and multiple similar cases related to political correctness and the proposal of failed socialist policies (AOC comes immediately to mind), is "Stupid is as stupid does".

It's Harvard Law, they are silly and do what they want. They shouted about how law school grades put to much pressure on students and went to a pass/fail method. Now there are no letter grades, instead a student can earn a low pass, a pass, or a high pass. Same thing, just in a prettier package. However, when your median starting salary after graduation is $140k and up you can really do whatever you want.
