So where were the other vets to step in? Why is somebody taking pictures and not going over to help our brother? Yes it is the shameful that somebody from the VA did not step in, but the bigger question is why nobody else that was there would not come to this guys aid. Have we become so self-centered that we have lost our compassion for our fellow person? I encourage each on of us to look inside of our hearts and ask what we would have done.

SGT William Howell - if I could I would upvote this comment 1000 times. You said it perfectly. We all sit around and say "oh the va...", "isn't that awful...", "this needs to be fixed..." but fail to do anything to actually cause change. I think we have become too self-centered. I think we find it easier to point and blame others rather than trying to help while getting those accountable for their actions. While I agree that what the images show are awful, the lack of action by others makes it sting that much more.

SGT Ben Keen - The only good that I can take away from this is I know that I would have intervened.

Its a very valid point, something you often see on social media, People recording instead of helping. I can;t tell from the story what happened during and after the photos. I think the couple who did take the photo and posted it has did a lot more than help the vet up. For all I know the person could have lit up the staff after he took the picture. Now everyone who has seen this knows how screwed up that facility is,

1stSgt Eugene Harless - I see your point. For me if I saw a person in need, my first instinct is not to snap a photo.
