As a member of the LGBT community, it's ok for me to have your heterosexuality shoved down my throat? It's ok for you to say I'm a deviant to my face but then when the T part of the LGBT wants just to be allowed the same opportunity as you, then it's crossing a line? THEN someone is shoving something down your throat. That's cute. I certainly felt like y'all were shoving things down my throat when I was forced into mandatory christian ceremonies, when I am marginalized for being an Atheist. This isn't about fairness, this is about equality, the two are not the same.

SSG Derrick L. Lewis MBA, C-HRM - You were exposed without warning to the existence of LGBT people at the tender age of 8. Well I was exposed to heterosexuality and Christianity at the tender age of 0, and it was without warning or consideration of my own feelings. From the day I was born, it was pressed upon me that I was required to be a straight, Christian male. So now that I am able to speak for myself, anything I say different from what I was raised to be is "cramming it down the throat" of you and everyone who tried to force me to be a straight, Christian male.

Thank you for the response and weighing in with your thoughts. If you scroll through this thread and read my interactions with SGT (Join to see) , LT Miranda Bernabei , and CW2 Lindsey Muller , you will gain better insight with regards to what I meant by those particular statements. In no way am I against the positive strides and milestones achieved for the community, nor am I complaining about it in any way. However, I do stand accountable in not being more clear and concise within my initial statement, as you and other members within the community have misunderstood my message. That one is on me. Nonetheless, check it out when you get the chance and thanks for sharing; be well.

SSG Derrick L. Lewis MBA, C-HRM - That's the last time I try responding to something on here via mobile lol. I couldn't see the full conversation and there were all kinds of typos in my response.

The new "rules" are a great step toward SecDef's goal of maximizing readiness by allowing TG people to serve openly, and to support them through transition if needed.
But there is an assumption that TG people have a mental condition. This is absolutely not true. For example, TG men have no problems with day-to-day life other than they need to hide their tits. The biggest problems TG people face are invented by other people who can't accept that 1.7% of the population is born with a body and brain that have differing gender characteristics.
SSG Derrick L. Lewis MBA, C-HRM I understand how you might feel this is being shoved down your throat, but I have two thoughts that might help. First, TG servicemembers are not new, they are not being shoved down your throat. The only difference now is that the TG SM you have always been working with now doesn't fear being kicked out. The other thought is for everyone unfamiliar with TG people:
Although TG is part of the four letters LGBT, they are not gay, not homosexuals, and certainly not perverts. Historically, TG people have found that they are more accepted by the LGBs, so they allied their political cause to the LGBs. A TG man is just another man. He likes man stuff, and likes girls just like you do. The only difference is that he was born without a penis. And frankly, gentlemen, I'm not going to be eyeballing my tentmates in their underwear, are you?
Finally, nobody took a vote when the services integrated racially; nobody asked if you thought Filipino servicemen should be allowed out of the laundry and into the technical specialties; and nobody asked your opinion before taking women into the service. So yeah, in that way, it's being shoved down your throat just like all the other changes. This, too, shall pass.

Capt Michael Greene ,
Thank you for the response. However, I do not want to be misunderstood. Understand that I have zero reservations about any of this, as I have been personally exposed to this life at a early age. I have a transgender uncle who served in Vietnam proudly. In addition to, I have homosexual nephews and cousins and love them equally. Nonetheless, I feel that unwarranted forced acceptance is brought upon society to acknowledge and accept it all. I do not feel that is necessary. As humans and individuals, they should be allocated their own independent thought to how they choose to accept or reject the matter, based on experience, beliefs, morals and values. Part of who we are as Americans. If one cannot think for themselves, then they are no different than droids. Nonetheless, thanks for the share and input.

Please show the study that says "1.7% have a brain and body of differing gender characteristics". The reports I have read place it at about 0.3%. The studies that supported the TG viewpoint said 15,000 in the military and that was a big number, but is still way short of 1.7%. So please explain where you pulled that number out of.

Capt Michael Greene - I make mistakes all the time. I can appreciate a fight for equal rights and if that has been accomplished now we need to enforce equal standards and determination. It has to come back to removing all the filters, can they do their job. Life isn't fair and combat isn't by design.

You are aware that people are born like that and that those same people have served and continue to serve, so God in all His/Her wisdom made them like that for a reason. In Afghanistan I made use of them to ID the Taliban and mess with them as well as to collect Intel.

CSM Charles Hayden
CPT Pedro Meza I thought people like that were considered a problem by the Taliban and the Muslims? How did your sources survive?

CSM Charles Hayden - Taliban used young boys and lusted over my Chi Tea Boys, that were American forbidden fruit, which made the night rider's happy and I am sure you know whom I am talking of.
