This reminds me of an article I read several years ago proposing that the Army purchase sand buggies mounting anti-tank missiles and machine guns. Given the fact that a swarm of them could be purchased for the price of just one modern tank, the author made a strong case. Imagine one tank be attacked by a swarm of 50 to 100 dune buggies with anti-tank missiles. However, I've never seen anyone do this. I also don't expect to see resurrected container ships mounting missiles and machine guns

CPT Jack Durish Libya did this in its war with Chad. So much so it was called the Toyota war. They took a Toyota pickup and mounted four HOT missiles and I believe mounted a .51 caliber in the bed.
Not saying it's a model to emulate, but there it is.
2ACR was all HMMWV mounted for a while in the early 1990s.

Not sure this is a great idea. I understand the leveraging of modular and containerized systems. I understand the remote systems.

Sorry I stopped short. Just because all the pieces work great on other systems doesn't mean they work good together. Case in point: M60A2. They never got it to work right even though the hull was a completely reliable and known quantity. The main armament was already in another Armored system...debatable whether it was fully functioning in the field.

Saying this would be ok, because LCS is a bad ship design and they are out there too seems like doubling down on a poor decision.

I think there are many questions that need to be addressed, however, with technological advances I think this may be a viable idea. Same with AF use of drones, in the future because a drone can physiologically outfly a pilot. But do we want to take the humanity out of the cockpit? Not sure I would want someone 6,000 miles away backing up troops in a close quarters battlefield area. Not to mention the potential hacking threat.
