After reading the article, I would agree that these are reasonable timelines. Recruiters and Hiring Managers are indeed busy and that can sometimes lead to lengthened response time. One thing I would like to point out here is that military to civilian transitioners face a few other hurdles. There may be the need for additional paperwork or approval for off duty employment should you be hired while on terminal leave. Depending on your rank and current position there may be a need for an ethics opinion to determine there are no COI concerns. All in all, hiring companies are held to many compliance standards by the DoL and other entities that require more than just an offer letter and a handshake.

I always appreciate candidates that follow up with me after they apply or after an interview. However, there is a fine line between being persistent and being an irritant.
