SGT (Join to see) - Funny you should mention that. When I came back into the Army after a 5.5 yr break, I reclassed to 68S Preventive Medicine. While at that AIT, we would, once every 2 weeks or so, do a 4 mile ruck for PFT. This march would consist of a 10 pound ruck, no weapon and no ACH. The pace wasn't too hard nor too soft. Just fast enough to be back in the hour. I would generally start at the back since that is where us Reclass would be formed w/ the company. By the end of the march, I was usually the 2nd to 5th person from the front when arriving back at the barracks. I was 33 at the time and the last march I did was 10 yrs prior. I was passing up IETs just out of Basic (with the average age of 20). These kids were sweating, huffing and puffing, falling back/out....some damn near crying. I would shake my head every damn time. I was utterly astounded.
