In addition to the points the author makes, I would add that the number of General officers and the fight to maintain their billets in the face of cuts in personnel sends the message to the troops that their needs and those of their families are far less important than making sure General X retires with as big a pension as possible. Self serving leaders are not serving their troops or the country.

With this post being considered...how do you feel about our government officials (presidential, congress and senate) retiring and still receiving a far more substantial paycheck versus our service men and women receiving 50% in retirement and the soon to be 401K formatted retirement plan.
