Here's why aliens will probably come in peace

Any aliens that could get here would have to have, by default, an energy source that's currently beyond comprehension. And since 'energy source' can be re-written as 'weapon', we'd damned well better hope they come in peace. That said, there's not a single thing on this planet that can't be found in the asteroid belt found around nearly any star (including our own), so there's no real reason for any aliens to expend the energy it'd take to get here. Finally, I'm not a big believer in the Drake equation because it's contrived - he picked variables he thought were germane and stuck them in an equation. He wasn't being disingenuous - he did the best he could with the info he had. But still: contrived. What I AM a big believer in is statistics. Trillions upon trillions of stars out there with even more trillions of planets. The math alone says there's life out there. Intelligent life, even. But that doesn't mean we'll ever meet any of it.
