No. I did time so my son wouldn't have to. The military is like being a priest. It should be something you are called to.

Recommend? No.
Educate? Yes!

You (meaning me in my opinion) can only guide children/young adults by educating them with facts about all the options that are out there; including military service. My father, who was/still is an amazing father, was dead set against me going into the military... so i did it anyway haha. I wish he would have educated me about the options out there instead of trying to convince me to go straight to college instead of serving. I would have loved to consider West Point or Naval Academy, but honestly had no idea what it was about. No regrets now by any means, but it is something I keep in mind as my children begin exploring options.
