It's a good thought but you have to be able to engage in conversation versus an argument. We live in a culture of opposition; you either agree with me or you are against me. Check out Deborah Tannen's book The Argument Culture. We have forgotten how to have polite discourse.

That is the point, arguments when heated become emotional. A rational argument can only be accomplished with an open mind. If a snowflake, some current college students and their adult educators, refuse to listen while stereotyping their imagined enemy to an opposing view, they are not open minded. We as a society can only achieve growth when we are challenged. If someone is indoctrinated/taught to shun the challenge, they will never grow.
