In March 2019, former Devry student Eric Luongo was invited to testify before the House Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies about his experience at the school. Loungo, a disabled veteran, said he thought he would attend DeVry for free by using his GI Bill benefits. Luongo alleged that he was coerced into filling out federal loan paperwork and sign promissory notes. The result was that the veteran was left with over $100,000 in debt and a degree in graphic design that couldn’t get him gainful employment.
