Hello,

Well there are different kind of night vision for cameras. We can mainly separate them into 3 different categories.

- First and the most common is by "image intensification": This means that the sensor of the camera is particularly sensible to light and that the image is processed afterwards in a way to be able to see in the dark.

- Second and the most known technology is obviously IR (infrared). IR is an invisible band of radiation at the lower end of the visible light spectrum. IR cameras come equipped with IR Leds that illuminate the scene for the camera sensor. Humans can't see any light coming from those leds because our eyes isn't capable of seeing this part of the light spectrum.

- The third one and probably the best is the Thermal night vision technology. It also works thanks to the Infrared spectrum but the information gathered is processed differently. Furthermore, it doesn't need any IR Leds and captures all the infrared light emitted by all of the objects in view. You're able to see subjects no matter what. Even if smoke or fog is present you'll be able to catch all objects that create heat.

If you want to know more about these different technologies, I recommend you to check this great article where I got most of the information. https://securitycamerareviewer.com/learn/how-does-night-vision-security-camera-work/
