How Islamic does Brunei want to be?

Around 1994, 16th Engineer Battalion, which was then part of 3d ID, got some sort of invitation to send volunteers to Russian (I guess CIS, maybe at that time) airborne school. I was about to PCS, and I didn't volunteer. Don't know if anyone else did. Man, that was among the dumber decisions in my life. I doubt one would have ever run into another US Army Soldier with that foreign award.

The part about Sharia Law got my attention.
