A very good (if lengthy) article. My favorite line: "delegitimize the center-right and center-left (mainstream conservatives are always the first target), so that nothing remains but the extremes, who share the same philosophy and differ only in who gets the spoils after the bloodletting stops.[...] When you try to marginalize the mainstream, you end up mainstreaming the margins."

Haven't read the article yet, but the alt-right was pretty much dying until the alt-left starting targeting them. Now they are new worthy again and in some cases picking up steam.

Yes, some things just need to be placed on "ignore". Maybe both extremes of our political spectrum should be ignored for a while.

The alt-right is galvanized by conservative networks and the damn president supporting and defending them. They are sheltered by these lame attempts to muddy the waters over literal flag-waving fascists who have killed people, and trying to draw equivalency to (ironically) being hyper-offended over insults to the president and the history of the confederacy being dragged out into the open.
Conservatives that oppose this are very few, but they are welcomed.
