How the first helicopter pilot Medal of Honor was earned

No Congressional Medal of Honor has been, is now, or will ever be earned. That a not-too-insignificant number of these decorations have been presented to or received by persons under actions which did not involve the deadliest of situations, let alone intensely grave battle conditions, is abundantly evident. However, it was never earned, as if by completing some check-off list of administrative requirements. CMOH recipients detest the use of that word. It does not exist in their fraternal lexicon.
