Very useful post LTC Jason Mackay. I used my Green Book the same as you did. I did make a dashboard and I taped it inside my book. I put a sheet protector on it and then used a dry erase marker to track changes to the metrics I looked at daily. I'd give my book over to the S3 and then he could update the slides for C&S. After awhile I wondered why we even conducted C&S. But I digress. I think the Green Book is a great system but you have to be disciplined at some point in the week to capture your notes on the computer. Think Knowledge Management here. If a logistician followed this practice I'd speculate that they would have developed the equivalent to the Staff Officer's Estimate Guide.

LTC (Join to see) it’s of no use if it never comes back out as something actionable

LTC (Join to see) getting it transmitted is a time sink. I dabbled with a rocket book after I retired. It could be valued added...getting the book to the S3/XO in real time
