I wasn't taught Shakespeare. I was forced to read his plays. What the hell was wrong with my teachers? Shakespeare wrote scripts for plays. Directors interpret those scripts and create settings/scenery in which the play takes place. They then have actors play the parts. Actors interpret the words and accompany them with actions, nuance, emotion, etc. In other words, if you want to learn Shakespearean plays either act them (as suggested in this video) or watch others act them. The only thing my teachers accomplished was to teach me to hate Shakespeare. My love for his work came long after I escaped their chambers of horrors.

Reading WS in high school was damned hard work. Acting in WS later on in life was damned good fun.
