I would not be a fan of giving Patraeus a job for this very reason. Poor judgment from a guy that knew better because he wanted to dip his wick. Very poor and not a good example for anyone.

SSG Tom Pike It is not a matter of liking him. The guy is competent as they come.

Let me ask you a question, when was the last time you sped? You realize you committed a crime. It's a violation, but a crime none the less. How about a friend that got a DUI? It is a misdemeanor, but a crime. Patraeus was sentenced the same way people are punished for a DUI. It was a misdemeanor. While he screwed up, he has his shit together better than most. Besides Clinton already said taking emails home is no big deal.

SGT William Howell - I have a huge problem with senior government leaders not following the rules the little people have to follow and people thinking it is no big deal. We cannot have 2 classes of people in the legal system.

If Pratraeus can't keep his dick in his pants and his laptop away from his whore he is not a competent leader. I don't care how much you liked working for him. He is seriously flawed and damaged goods. Just like Hillary he should not be in a senior government position. He may be better than most, but he is not good enough, in my opinion, for Secretary of State.

To answer your question the last time I was caught speeding was in 2002, prior to that it was some time in the late 1980's.

As for DUI's how many military friends have you seen their careers ruined by a DUI? That's usually some jail time, a serious fine, loss of driving privileges for a year and a bar to reenlistment and an end to a career. Patraeus didn't get that much for what he did. While he plead guilty to a Misdemeanor and was fined $40,000 he actually committed multiple felonies.

SGT William Howell - If you had a DUI and some speeding tickets (adjudicated) and you wanted to drive a school bus my guess is you would be denied the job for safety reasons. Patraeus, competent or not, compromised classified info for a relationship with a woman.
If the bus driver cannot get the job (because a clean driving record is important to driving kids) then Patraeus shouldn't have the job with classified material as he has proven he cannot be trusted.

If Patraeus had a speeding ticket or two it wouldn't be an issue, would it?

SSG Tom Pike Point well made. You have swayed my opinion...and that almost never happens! We do have 2 classes when it comes to crimes and that is total bullshit.

Patraeus should be disqualified from holding this position because of the unlawful and improper release of classified information. Draining the swamp also includes upholding the standards set for by government regulation for government/military personnel.

In this case, I would have to agree with PE Trump's statement on this subject.

Some of the related comments remind me that some of us tend to forget the past.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." President Clinton, 26 Jan 1998.
How many of you believe that fellatio is not a sex act?

Ignorantia juris non excusat or ignorantia legis neminem excusat (Latin for "ignorance of the law excuses not" and "ignorance of law excuses no one" respectively) is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely because he or she was unaware of its content.

The 431 BCE funeral oration of Pericles, recorded in Thucydides's History of the Peloponnesian War, includes a passage praising the equality among the free male citizens of the Athenian democracy:
If we look to the laws, they afford equal justice to all in their private differences; if to social standing, advancement in public life falls to reputation for capacity, class considerations not being allowed to interfere with merit; nor again does poverty bar the way. - Thucydides, The History of the Peloponnesian War, Written 431 BCE, Translated by Richard Crawley (1874), retrieved via Project Gutenberg.

It is very obvious that those in a position of power, have completely different rules of law, than the rest of us. And so many are questioning how PE Trump was elected. SMH!
