This is a great reason why monarchies are bad government - a younger man with no real work experience believes that bravodo and aggression will sustain the house of Said. The British empowered that family to run things between the world wars as long as they kept the oil pump running to the Royal Navy. The whole family of hundreds of princes is no friend of America and would sell any thing or one to stay in power. The USA erred when it agreed to prop up the monarchy under Truman.

SSgt Robert Marx Thanks for reading the article. I agree with you about the bravado of Salman's son Mohammed. He is a product of what Salman wanted being that unlike the other royals his education was completed in Saudi Arabia. With regards to an error in propping up the monarchy under Truman, keep in mind that any regime replacing the House of Saud is likely to be worse. Look at what has happened when we took other dictators.

I have read other accounts of the dealings of the house of Saud. They are a group of miscreants and no republic with democratic principles should ally with them. The Islamic state of Iran is their deadliest opponent and so the Saudis need to play their best game. I hate to see war any where and I hope that the Saudis get their affairs in order and actually bring reforms.
