Once we're able to get something viable started on Mars, we need to start capturing and mining these big dogs. Could it later become a self-sustaining jumping off point to the outer system?

I know you're going to likely disagree, and I realize, certainly, why the article is of interest scientifically, however, I'm afraid all that NASA dog and pony show drivel about Mars terraforming or asteroid mining is purest SciFi nonsense in mynview, I've been before my total perm disability, a very serious scientist, research engineer, physicist, and mathematician, I was involved with very serious hard science projects, sevl of them over a quite protracted period, and honestly think I have a pretty fair idea whereof I speak, I'm not saying that to be a wet blanket, or a naysayer, filled with doom and gloom, however, I'm afraid till there's a fleet of nuclear thermal rocket powered ships, there won't he any serious exploration of space, the whole SpaceX thing uses wholly outdated technology and leaves me flatly unimpreßsed beyond landing a rocket vertically, and the nest the human race is gonna manage for decades if not centuries to come are gonna he occasional robots, that's about it, honest, as I said, I know you're gonna disagree, however, that's my honest scientific view, I'm afraid, such as it is, for whatever it might he worth, if you'd care to chat, I'd obv be most eager for your thoughts in any event, of course, many thanks....
