I've spent hundreds of hours on European road trips. Here are 9 ways they're different from ones...

I too traveled extensively throughout Europe, but have to significantly disagree with the comment about the lack of Road Rage (unless his version of 'road rage' is actually trying to kill another driver).
The VINCI Autoroutes Foundation publishes a annual report* on "Responsible Driving" which covers a variety of topics but focuses mainly on driver conduct with a view to homing in on their risky behavior and best practices. Below is one excerpt from the report for 2022:
Drivers continue to be very uncivil to each other
• Although 97% of European drivers have a positive opinion of their own driving, 84% are afraid of other drivers’ aggressive behavior.
• 52% acknowledge that they sometimes insult other drivers. This is notably the case for 70% of Greeks (although down 4 points on 2015), but just 29% of Swedes.
• 47% sound their horn excessively at drivers who annoy them; a very widespread practice in Spain (66%), but far less so in Germany (29%).
• 30% admit to tailgating (44% of Greeks, down 5 points) or overtaking on the inside lane on the motorway (39% of Spaniards, British and Dutch).
• 22% admit to getting out of their vehicle to argue with another driver, a figure that is constantly increasing (+7 since 2015).
The lack of civility while behind the wheel seems to be a pretty universal issue (of course it's worse in some places than others, but probably only non-existent in some cart drivers in the Himalayan mountains).

While stationed in the UK for 4 years we traveled fairly extensively throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, mostly via auto. Thankfully, almost never paid local gas prices. In the UK I could trade in AF coupon books at the naval station in London and purchase naval coupons. I had a booklet to let me know where I could use the prepaid coupons on the economy. Saved a bundle.
I did the same when traveling in Europe, trading in and paying for coupons good in Europe.
We also got used to carrying different countries currencies and change. If you needed a commode in Germany it cost 10 P to open the door and also more coinage for toilet paper.
Great memories. In the UK, roundabouts we’re the norm. Living in North GA we have lots of roundabouts, so much better than 4 way stops.
