I don't know the whole story, but it sounds like this man was done very wrong. Locals have tried to make this right, but it sounds like the Army needs to get on the stick and give this officer his due. Officially.

I don't know how it is that he could not, as a Japanese-American, serve as a pilot in the ETO during WWII.

He is half Japanese, and appears to favor his mother's side of the family. I wonder if he concealed his Japanese heritage when he joined.
It seems he might have been a pilot in the ETO, with no problem, but they busted him down to Private.
Amazing, that he was a TSA agent until 91 years old.
