I don't know how it is that he could not, as a Japanese-American, serve as a pilot in the ETO during WWII.

He is half Japanese, and appears to favor his mother's side of the family. I wonder if he concealed his Japanese heritage when he joined.
It seems he might have been a pilot in the ETO, with no problem, but they busted him down to Private.
Amazing, that he was a TSA agent until 91 years old.
