If I am flying on a plane I want someone controlling the plane who has a more personal interest in us making it there safely than some remote pilot would. The pilot might not be as interested in saving us as he is in saving himself but the pilot’s desire for self preservation works for everyone onboard.

Not so much for planes whit passengers, but in the long run "wetware' support systems limit the performance of fighters and strike aircraft significantly.
A fighter that can pull 30 Gs eats anything with a human in it for lunch. Current aircraft can outperform their crews, Aircraft without the burden of crew can simply do things no manned aircraft a can do. G-limitations are far less restrictive in a machine and reflexes in a machine are measured in microseconds or less.
