Big news - the IAVA-led Deborah Sampson Act that aims to significantly reduce barriers to care for women veterans has been passed by the Senate as part of a large veterans benefits package and will soon be considered by the House. It expands services to address issues like reintegration, homelessness, and newborn care. It includes provisions to address sexual harassment and assault in VA facilities, and establishes an Office of Women’s Health directly under the Undersecretary of VA for Health. This has been nearly four years in the making!
