Politically this will be a contested issue that will, in the eyes of some, only impact less than 1% of the population. Realistically we as leaders have to look at personnel costs as a portionnof the DOD's budget which is skyrocketing. By no means am i saying that we need to cut the GI bill but we should look at all of the government programs that could stand to be reevaluated. I believe our service members have earned their benefits.

It seems the leaders of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America may be falling on their sword SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. It makes sense to encourage and lobby legislators to preserve and hopefully improve the legislation over time. It does not make sense to issue ultimatums to Congress while we are still under sequestration in the final year of a sitting President's administration.
