There have been structure losses, but they are hopeful that most of the town can be spared. With the ground heave that has happened, I doubt that the town will ever be habitable though.

I remember in 2013, all of the climate models were saying end of the world by 2023, 2025, 2030, etc. Then the volcano in Iceland erupted and created global cooling practically overnight. It broke all of the climate models.

Once again we have a volcano in Iceland spewing ash and smoke into the air, which will cause further cooling.

But just remember that not only is global warming an existential threat - everything to do with the climate is the fault of humans.

Climate is so much "bigger" than we are...it is impacted by the Earth herself (volcanos, sea eruptioins that change the flow of the colder and warmer water) and the sun (which is unpredictable)
