SFC George Smith When you go with the lowest bidder, you get what you pay for. I agree. On Kwajalein they put up new townhouse style homes on the island. We lived in a concrete block house built by the Navy after WWII. We had a typhoon roll through on Thanksgiving one year, and the new houses that everyone was so happy to be moving into did not fare well in the storm. The rooftops peeled back like a can of sardines. When the storm was over we returned home, we found that the Concrete block house that was far older fared far better. One house had a pine tree blown over on it, and the tree was just leaning against the roof overhang which was undamaged. So yeah substandard materials, substandard repairs, all performed by the lowest bidder are not a recipe for long term sustainability.
