Illuminated Flag

My wife and I purchased a condo this year and it took some time to improvise a method of displaying our flags on holidays. HOA rules made it a challenge, but I finally devised a method. The only problem is that I have to climb a ladder to put them up and take them down. Inasmuch as my wife doesn't trust me on ladders (despite the fact that I was a topmast sailor on tallships when I was much younger) I had to next devise some method of illuminating the American flag at night to cut down on the number of times I was climbing the ladder on holiday weekends. I decided to employ a projector that came with slides with different images for each holiday, and projected images of bursting fireworks on the reverse side of my flag hanging vertically. I think it looks pretty good but is it sufficient?

The Flag Code offers no specific guidelines as to what qualifies as a “properly illuminated” flag. Many interpret the phrase to mean either a light directly upon the flag (preferred) or the presence of sufficient local lighting to make the flag visible at night. Anything that doesn’t meet these recommendations would be improper illumination.
