Those headlines could have come out in my first year in the Army, 1964, and before. And every year since. Do not get me wrong, I support decent pay and benefits for our military.

But is there anyone here on RP that joined for the money?

Put everyone in the barracks.

I mean everyone. Commanding General down to fresh out of OSUT PVT. And rooms completely randomly assigned. Sure, SFC and up get their own room. But aside from that......


I guarantee Soldier living, quality of life, and Barracks rules improve overnight. And continue to improve steadily for a number of years.
