Sea mountains are very sneaky, I don't recall ever hearing one of them on sonar. We used to pull the fuses on our active sonar when deploying.

Lol! I can only imagine what the COs comments may have been to the sonarmen. Regardless, it's amazing that the sub made it through this relatively good. Being in a tin can at the bottom of the ocean can't be a fun thing anyway, but I'm sure the crew had a warm fuzzy about the damage their sub could take and still drive on after this.
